Tiger Woods was layered in clothing for an early nine holes of practice to beat the rain, with a knit beanie over his cap.Temperatures were still in the upper 40s when players headed out for the first official day of practice on the Long Island public course, already soaked from weekend rain with more falling in the afternoon.Glover won the last major at Bethpage Black, the 2009 U.S. Open, during a week so inundated with rain that it didn’t finish until Monday afternoon and the maintenance crew kept finding shoes in the muck weeks after it was over.He tried a 3-wood from the same spot and that also failed to reach the green, and at that point Woods jokingly suggested he might consider teeing it up for a driver. You get extra rewarded for a good shot, and a bad shot is still bad.... With it soft like this — probably going to be soft the first few days — there will be a lot of long clubs in, so it will be to your advantage if you’re striking your irons well, especially your long irons.”
Aldridge scored 26 points and DeRozan added 25 to help the Spurs beat the Nuggets 120-103 on Thursday night.“We tried to sustain that and understand whatever they do we have to match it, be more aggressive, understand we have to keep our rhythm, being aggressive on both ends and we did that.”Jokic scored 27 of his 43 points in the second half to post the third highest point total this postseason behind the 50 by Portland’s Damian Lillard and 45 from Golden State’s Kevin Durant.Jokic also finished with 12 rebounds and nine assists to fall an assist shy of his second triple double of the series.“It’s probably going to be even tougher than this one.”The young Nuggets have to ponder that after a strong effort wasn’t enough in Game 6.

Denny Hamlin raced to his second NASCAR Cup victory of the season, overcoming two penalties on pit road and missing the entry another time during green flag conditions Sunday in Texas.“I missed pit road under green, that cost three or four seconds as well. The race, which had only three cautions outside the two stage stoppages, featured 27 lead changes among 13 drivers. His third win at Texas was his first since sweeping both races at the 1 1/2-mile track in 2010.Erik Jones was fourth ahead of polesitter Jimmie Johnson, whose career-long winless drought reached 66 races.William Byron, Aric Almirola, Kevin Harvick, Kurt Busch and Kyle Busch rounded out the top 10.
The number 21 is heavily on my mind as I write this week’s column. It’s the number of years since my dad passed away. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of him.But as the years go by, I sometimes forget how many years it has truly been. When my dad died, the family decided to keep running the business, which after a relatively short time turned into me, with my mom’s help, continuing to fulfill book orders. It would be four years later that I would decide to turn to gaming analysis as a full-time job.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) has extended the compliance period for its new opinion of the Wire Act by another 60 days—giving some much needed breathing space to those regulators and operators looking to bring their online gaming offering in line with the new law.“I confirm there has been a 60-day extension to the 90-day deadline for gambling companies to comply,” DOJ spokesperson Nicole Navas told Gambling Compliance. It means that US State regulators and operators will have until June 14, 2019, rather than April 15, 2019 to bring their operations in line with the new interpretation of the Act which restricts all forms of online gambling that crosses state lines. After the compliance period ends, if operations are not in line with the new law, fines and penalties will be issued by the DOJ.This reversal of the DOJ’s stance on the Wire Act puts huge pressure on existing online gambling operations. While the DOJ has not made clear which operations are in immediate jeopardy, the MultiState Internet Gaming Agreement which allows online poker operators to pool their liquidity between Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware, and the nationwide contests of Daily Fantasy Sports are suspected to be in their crosshairs.

60 pages of internal Facebook emails have revealed how the company narrowly missed a privacy breach that could have been ‘near fatal’ for third-party apps.Last year the UK government invoked a rare parliamentary mechanism to force the founder of US software company Six4Three, Ted Kramer, into handing over communications obtained during a legal battle with Facebook regarding an app the developer had invested $250,000 in.Now, according to The Guardian, 60 pages of internal communications between Facebook’s most senior executives have appeared on hosting service GitHub.Posted anonymously, the documents include a “highly confidential” memo dating back to 2012 when a near-miss privacy breach could have had serious ramifications for Facebook. While the complete authenticity of the unredacted emails has not been confirmed, they do appear to align with previously released emails that were redacted.‘I’m super, super serious here’
NASCAR is back and it all starts this weekend at Daytona with an 80-minute practice session Saturday and then Sunday’s Advance Auto Parts Clash, a 75-lap non-points race. It’s the best of the best racing this weekend with only 20 drivers who became eligible to participate by winning a pole last season, making the playoffs or winning a past Daytona 500.The name of this race has changed over the years from the Busch Clash, the Budweiser Shootout, and the Sprint Unlimited, but it’s always been one of my favorites simply because I’m usually starving for NASCAR racing after a cold winter.I convinced my friends it was a good idea and we did the annual road trip starting in New Orleans.Last week at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, 13 teams tested the new Cup Series cars and they were slow. Most drivers quietly hate it although they’re not talking bad about the brand.
